Strange boy at camp

So yesterday I went off to my first day of helping with Grandmaster Choi's Tae Kwon Do day camp, otherwise known as "discipline camp." This is where parents send their kids for a kind of boot camp type thing. I showed up for the noon class, amidst kids with their juice boxes, and all that fun kinda stuff.

During the class, one little boy who I had never seen before, walked up to me and kicked me in the shin. Very strange. So I took him to the head instructor and told him what happened, and he said he'd talk to him, and I went away.

Later on, the kid's mother showed up and was talking to Grandmaster Choi. Apparently this poor kid had tried to kill himself over the weekend. 8 years old and attempted suicide! This was absolutely out of my realm of reality. She told GMC that her son kept everything bottled up inside, never let anything out, and therefore it was difficult to help him through therapy.

I went over and told her that I overheard the conversation and wanted to let her know that her son had let out a little bit when he kicked me, so many he was starting to be ready to talk. She told me that the reason why he was having so many problems is that he and his little brother were molested by a babysitter, and the 8 year old was feeling horrible guilt because he couldn't stop it from happening to his little brother. Oh man! What kind of a world do we live in where little children can be so hurt and in so much pain?

So this poor little boy screams for help by trying to kill himself. And his psychiatrist, when told that her client attempted suicide, says that she can't see him until sometime in July because her schedule is full. WHAT?!?!?! JEEEZ! Fire the bitch! The mom told me she did indeed fire the bitch, and is going to report her.

So I'm driving home thinking about how absolutely blessed my life is, with a healthy mostly happy daughter, a great support system, and solvable problems, when someone decides to rear end me. Ah, the irony. I'm fine, they're fine, truck is a bit messed up but not bad and still drivable. Their car is not so good. Poor older Korean couple.

Every day is a winding road.....
