Black Belt Ceremony

Went to a black belt ceremony Sunday. Quite interesting that they have a ceremony that includes ritual purification, pseudo spell casting, etc. and then the announcement that "nothing about this is religious." Hee hee. Maybe to THEM. It was basically an initiation rite. There was a straight path marked by rugs where the grandmaster sat with another master at his side behind a very low table. Students were called, they were flanked by higher ranked people, who then escorted to a table where another person poured a cup of "pure" water that they drank, then went before the grandmaster, where they knelt and bowed. During this time, someone read what the person's goals were, what they got out of Tae Kwon Do, and some other information. The grandmaster gave them a new uniform, certificate and their black belt. Then they stood and the three of them walked backwards to the start of the path. The student then went and knelt at another low table where their parents or spouse witnessed a "contract" where the student stated their next goal that they were trying to attain.

March Monthly Challenge

Gretchen gave us a great monthly challenge, and since I thought it was important to think about these things, I'm putting it here in the BOS. The first part was to list five physical traits that make you beautiful.

I chose these:

2) I have nice calf muscles too.
3) I can still do a full split at age 42 (43 next month) so PTHTHTHT.
4) I like my green/hazel eyes.
5) I still like my nipple and labia rings :-) (remember, YOU ASKED :-)).
6) I can put both feet behind my head.

Next part was to list what makes you the amazing, interesting, fantastic person that you are, and what you have or do that nobody else does. We were specifically chided NOT to be modest.

1) I have not yet been found out as the earthly minion of Our Lady Eris on earth.
2) I have more energy in a day (in general) than most people have in a month.
3) When motivated, I can accomplish huge volumes.
4) I can be generous to a fault.
5) I am smarter than the average bear.
6) I have an insane sense of humor.
7) I am patient with those I teach and refrain from punting them into bushes.
8) I am physically and emotionally strong.
9) I have had many wonderful experiences through my lifetime, and some not so wonderful, but have learned from all of them.
10) I have enough love to take care of a lot of people. Whether they like it or not :-)
11) I hate beets and LIKE HATING BEETS! :-)

The last part was to write what we are grateful for:

1) I am grateful for a wonderful husband who is always there, rarely gruff, even more rarely judgemental, and the love of my life.
2) I am grateful for a child who is not in jail, hasn't yet gotten to the point where she doesn't want me around, and is just plain a good kid.
3) I am grateful for my crazy pets, the nutty parrots who say just the right thing at the right time (like when I told one yesterday she was too fat and she looked me in the eyes, cocked her head to one side and said "Nooooooooooooo"), my 17 year old kitty cat who is still walking and talking, my other kitty cat who is starting to regain some weight, my crazy muttleys, and my fun strays who grace me with their presence.
4) I am grateful that I am mostly healthy. I look around and see so many people are SO much worse off than I am and think that I am very grateful that my circumstances have enabled me to be so much better.
5) I am grateful that I have so many friends who are so supportive and caring. They knock me over the head and drag me away from things when I get tooooo obsessed.
6) I am grateful that I am not President of the United States, that I am not into politics, that I am not currently being persecuted for my beliefs, that I am not currently being threatened by starvation, terrorists, freedom fighters, or other people who might have weapons or might otherwise be able to chop me into bits or blow me into pieces.
7) I am grateful that Matt has an ass that I can kick. MOO HA HA.

Jewelry Shop Name

Picked a name for my stones/jewelry shop. It is at www.enchantedworks.com Makes me wonder whether or not coding a website can be considered spiritual :-). It's definitely a type of penance.
